Recently, American has begun to offer double AAdvantage miles for passengers flying the JFK-LGB route. Looks like someones trying to fill their planes up in a hurry.

The war has begun!

::STEAMS:: Oooooh AA is beginning to make me mad, but wait till jetBlue's FFP comes out. 2 RTs for people flying JFK-LGB route to get a free ticket. Let's see AA swallow that lump. HA HA HA HA HA

Well, I mean they already have matching fares so this is just an added bonus. Actually, back in "the day" maybe twenty years ago, American offered tripple miles if you were willing to make a stop on the SFO-JFK run... and the SFO-LAX trip was given a minimum mileage of 750 miles... so if you connected through LAX you'd get something like 2 x 3 x (750+2500) miles. Pretty darn nice. My dad has been using up his miles from trips like that for years now, and he still has something like 100,000 left in his Advantage account.
