What US airports have exclusive, sometimes exotic, internatonal destinations that cannot be reached non-stop from any other US airport? I am sure JFK has many, but I'm especially interestead in hearing some of the odder routes (like Detroit's exclusive service to Windsor, Ontario).

From MIA, the following cities cannot be reached non-stop from any other US airport:

Belem, Brazil
Cali, Colomiba
Cartagena, Colombia
Iquitos, Peru (starts 24 June)
La Paz, Bolivia
Manaus, Brazil
Maracaibo, Venezuela
Salvador, Brazil (starts 02 July)
Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Porlamar, Venezuela
Valencia, Venezuela

I am sure Honolulu has some exotic ones as well.

ATL has Stuttgart, Germany. Delta serves it nonstop daily with a 763. I don't think that Stuttgart is served by any other carrier nonstop from the US.

ATL also has Capetown (CPT), South Africa. It is the only US city with nonstop service to CPT. That is only going eastbound. A stop is required in Cape Verde going west. The routing is only nonstop to CPT a few days a week though. It goes ATL-CPT-JNB some days, and ATL-JNB-CPT the others. Coming to ATL, it is CPT-JNB-Cape Verde-ATL some days and JNB-CPT-Cape Verde-ATL on others. The flight is served by SAA's 744s.

In Denver,

There is Mexicana's 1x weekly Zacatecas service. Not many cities in the US have non-stop service to Zacatecas.

I don't even know why Mexicana flies this route from DEN......

HNL has Midway Island service 1x weekly on Aloha Airlines. Unfortunately since Midway Island airport is being shut down, the flight will be discontinued soon.

Very unfortunate.....

JFK has IST and ATH, both served by Delta as well as Turkish (IST) and Olympic (ATH). Perhaps the biggest European one out of JFK would be VCE, where Delta is the only carrier serving the route in addition to New York being the only city with nonstop service there.

However, I'd say MIA and SJU have by far the most.

DeltaSFO, ORD also has non-stops to IST, Turkish 3x a week (and before 9.11 MIA did too  Sad)

Falcon Flyer, Northwest Airlink.

Airplanetire, your information is 100% correct, but, just to add, the stop is changing back to FLL this fall, so FLL will be the only city with non-stop from CPT, and ATL will be the only one with service too. And you are right about STG. DL did fly JFK-STG at one point, but it didn't work out.

BA, your right, not many cities have Zacatecas service. From what I found, only ORD also has ZCL service. LAX might, but I only checked for weekend service.

Here are some others I can think of:

San Juan to Herrera, Dominican Republic

JFK to Luxeumburg
JFK to Georgetown, Guayana (though MIA gets GEO this winter)
JFK to Nice, France
JFK to Cairo, Egypt
JFK to Casablanca, Morroco

Miami to Cordoba, Argentina (late summer 2002)

Ft. Lauderdale to Walker's Cay, Bahammas

Opa Locka (Miami) to Cape Haitian, Haiti

Watson Island (Miami) to Bimini, Bahammas

Anchorage to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia

Los Angeles to Guangzhou, China
Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia
Los Angeles to Auckland, New Zealand
Los Angeles to Noumea, NC
Los Angeles to Nagoya, Japan
Los Angeles to Fukoka, Japan (??)

LAX does have Zacatecas service, but that and ORD were all I could find for ZCL service.

MAH4546,
Who does the LAX - Noumea flight? Corsair?

If UA ever starts ORD-DEL, that would be another one to add to the list. With the current tension in the area, this is a longshot to happen soon.

Is Oslo still served only from EWR?
Another one I can think of is Accra-JFK on Ghana Airways (or is BWI the first stop, not sure). JFK probably has a lot more.

ZCL also has service to SFO on Thurs and Sun. So that's a total of DEN, ORD, LAX, and SFO.

LAX also gets nonstop service to:
Nadi, Fiji. The only other US city with service is HNL.
Papette in Polynesia. Again only HNL also gets service.
Apia Samoa. Also only HNL.
Culican Mexico (CUL), no other US cities get a nonstop.
Aguascalientes Mexico (AGU), the only other US cities are DFW and IAH.

IAH and SAT get the only service to San Luis Pelosi, Mexico (SLP).

STT757, Chicago has year-round service to Birmingham, UK on American (it did not operate for winter 2001/2002, however) and seasonal service to Glasgow on American. SAS suspened Newark-Oslo this past winter.

Flyguy1, JFK has no non-stop service to Kuwait City. Kuwait Airlines flies via London Heathrow. They also fly from ORD to KWI via LHR. Baltimore also has non-stop service to Accra, once a a week. However, I think Ghanna is gone now, so neither BWI or JFK have ACC service. There is also no service between JFK and Malaga. And someone correct me if I am wrong, but JFK-Bucharest is also not non-stop. Flights are all via Luxembourg or Timisoara.

Continental, clearly you have not been to all those "South American places". Cities like Iquitos, Manaus, and Belem, located along the Amazon River, are some of the most exotic in the world. And Cartagena, Colombia has some of the world's most beautiful beaches, while Porlamar, Venezuela is known around the world for its beaches, so much so that it has non-stop service to the European capitals of Madrid and Amsterdam.

DIA777, I believe it is Air New Zealand.

FATFlyer, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Mexicana open up new Chicago Midway-Culican service this year?

One not-so exlcusive route, but I'll mention it anyway, is service to the island city of Roatan, in Honduras. Grupo TACA flies there from Miami and Houston, both only once a week. They used to fly New Orleans-Roatan too, up until recently.

Frequentflier, you are right, Air Plus Comet does fly JFK-AGP, but it is a charter service. There is nothing in the OAG showing scheduled JFK-AGP flights. None the less, Malaga wouldn't be exclusive because they also fly MIA-AGP charters.
