There is a rumour that the Airbus A340-600 is comming in sometime this week. There is also a Air Canada Jazz CRJ parked outside AvMax with the yellow scheme. Also at AvMax is a Bahamas Air Dash 8. There are American F-16's comming in, this week to practice for the G-8. Aviation days is next weekend, and now it's looking like Air Force One will be comming to YYC for the G-8.

That's all the news I have.

So THATS what that colorful Dash 8 is sitting down there.
Thanks for the heads up Mark.

The A340-600?!! You sure? That is going to be so damm sweet!!
I hope it comes during the Aviation days period or the Friday before it and most of all, I hope the weather will be good if it comes.

That is unbelivable that such a sooper long-john plane may actually come to YYC. Calgary out of all the Canadian cities at this time.. Not even Toronto is mentioned!~! HAA!

I will see what I can do to find out if this is actually going to happen as it sounds very very interesting and awfully tempting to skip school and see it.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I am also glad Aviation Day is next weekend. I have been trying to find out when that was going to take place but I got nothing. I thought it would be THIS weekend but Glad it is not. Do you know what planes will be coming for those days as well as any additional info?

I'm going Saturday morning/early afternoon. Hope it's nice out.

My source who told me about the British Airways 777, Air Force One, is also the one who told me about the A340-600. All I know is it's comming in sometime this week.

Keep looking out for the F-16, aswell as Canadian CF-18's. There are also talks of F-15's. There is also talk of the AWACS comming in early to framiliarize themselves with the area.

It depends on who organized it. In the past there have been KC-10's and Westjet 737's on display, you could go in them. A bunch of fighter jets and other cool stuff. It's usually infront of Spar. Bo probably knows more. I'm trying to get a list of planes.

Hello all Calgarians, I guess since I know a little something about Aviation days I should tell you about it for this year.

It will be running on June 8-9, from 10 am until 4 or 5 pm. The static display this year will have a lot of corporate jets from the likes of Sunwest, Airsprint, Morgan, and some other private operators. The Canadian Air Force should be bringing in a couple of CF-18's, on of which will hopefully be the special 20th anniversary colors (check out pics of it at www.canadianaviation.com). I was told that they were trying to get some American presence due to them all being up at Cold Lake for the maple flag exercises, so you never know.

Westjet should have a plane there, most likely a -200 series, but there is that off chance of a -700, but very slim. There will also be lots of displays from the General Aviation flying community in the Calgary area, complete with Plane flights courtesy of us great guys at Calgary flight, $20 for the flight, and who knows, I may be your pilot!  Smile

Plus the usual displays inside the hangars, and of course lots of food and airport emergency equipment displays. And of course for all those spotters, you are airside at the southeast corner. Right next Runway 34, so if it is active at all, you'll get some great unobstructed shots of the comings and goings.

I'm sure there will be more information the closer we get to it, but that is all the information I have now. Oh yeah, Eagle 'copters will also be doing helicopter flights as well.

And see Bo, I told you AF1 would be arriving...in the aluminium! And the 340-600!!?? I'll be keeping my eye out all week, someone call me at the flight center at 291-9393 if you hear any specific date or time!

Oh and by the way. When I got back from my flight yesterday, I happened to see a 737-200 parked over by the shell station, it was in full Canada 3000 colors. Wondering if anyone knew what it was doing in Calgary?

What time was it at the Aerocenter? I cruised by at around 3, and saw nothing. If anyone can find out when the A340-600 is comming, that's awesome. I'll be skipping school for that one...even my Mom approves of that Smile. My source is a guy who works at Calgary Pilot Supply, I bought a scanner and a Westjet painting, and he told me the neat news.

Anyone else catch the yellow Jazz, CRJ? it's got bright yellow winglets, but the tail is still white.

The C3 737 was actually parked close to the Sunwest hangars, I returned from my flight at 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

Ok, so that's probably why I didn't see it. I was driving down McKnight looking if anything interesting was at Shell and saw nothing.

Who's going to be at Aviation Days? It's looking like Mark and I will be there at the start on Saturday.

I'll be there. I'll be flying for most of the morning in the ol'172's. I'll probably take some time off in the afternoon to cruise the exhibits and drop off my resumes and such.

You betcha, the flight is roughly 20 minutes. Well take you out west towards Canada Olympic Park, then down south over Glenmore reservoir, then back up to the airport. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with all of it.

Last time I was there was two years ago with the KC-10 from the U.S. Airforce. I went up on one of the cessna flights. Really Cool. If we do decide to take a flight we'll try to get you.

Speaking of the KC-10 I got a pict of the Aviation days in 2000 where the Herc and KC10 came.
I also got a load of shots that time which I have not scanned but will in the future.
That C3 737 has been there for some time. I saw it back in May.
I would guess that it would be one of the Air North Planes doing a check before its sent away to HorseWhite. GEt it?! HA!
I heard that the first AIrNorth 737 was already shipped and it was indeed an Ex-C3 as yall know.

So Mark: What is the scanner you bought? I gotta see it sometime.

Aaron: If you happen to be the pilot whos flying the plane that I am in, can you deviate your flight a little so you would fly over my house? Cuz since you guys at CFTC will be flying over the Res- I live not far from it. Right by SouthLand Leis to be accurate. I will have a picture of my 'hood' sometime later on.

My ma also approves me of skipping to see the A346 if it comes. It better be 34 or 28!! Or else I clutch my fists and wave in anger!!

It's weird. The guy who told me that the A340 was comming in new quite a bit, and so far has been correct. I got a reply from Airbus that they don't think it is comming in.....go figure

It's a Maycom scanner, it's a tiny little thing.

I'm planning to show up for the last hour on sunday if I'm not working. It's awesome to see the planes take off, especially the KC-10, if it's back.

Any idea what will be there?

ya, nice seeing you guys there, i saw the canjet and the kendals, and the jazz crj. took a cruise down to the pilot supply, talked the the guy there, he seems pretty cool, found out that during the G8 the airspace for airliners really sucks, They have to fly down to great falls, then cut over for westbound flights. Aviation day is sussposed to be better for tommrow.
