I am getting realyl sick of this bashing AA crap. They've taken 3 slaps to the face in the last callender year and im really impressed that their still in the air.
No other airline has had 2 planes used as weapons, a major plane crash and an second attemped terrorist attack in the same year! All i hear now is AA is crap, AA doesn't serve food, blah blah blah. AA has good service with MRTC and they are coming back with the food. IF you don't want to fly them fine, thats your buisness, stop making us all hear this stuff about their "dirty tricks"

Although I am a Delta f/f because of there service out of FLL,I have flown AA many times and will do so in the future. I think America needs a strong AA and United airlines! I have found nothing bad about AA,Delta or United! I have seen the same bashing as you about American carriers and how great European carriers are and believe me the worst flights I have ever been on were Iberia and AF! Be proud of American Airlines they are one of the best!

Trans-pacifically speaking, compared to JAL, American has a lot of room for improvement(ALORFI). Their SJC international operation is a joke as they dump their arriving Narita pax on the curb, only to scramble through all the Southwest pax at the curb and security checkpoints. American Airlines, once something special in the air, has lost their edge in being a fine carrier. I would like to see them, once again, be one of world's finest carriers. They need to commit themselves to be as good or better than carriers such as BA and JAL.

I used to hate AA... I'm from STL, and it really pissed me off when they took over TWA. About 3 months ago I was flying NWA (Auuugh) from STL-MEM-DFW. They put my conections to close together (25 min,-10min for gate closure=15min to get from point A to point B) Anyway, NWA told me to go to the wrong gate.. SO I was F*&$^#d! Any way, I went up to the AA counter, and they very generously put me on their plane. So I have no problem with AA. But my question is, where are you finding these AA bashing things? It apears to me as though you are TRYING to start something...but that is just my opinion :P

Well just so you know my girlfriend(who is Japanese) loves AA, and it is her favourite airline (for trans-pacific) and she is actually leaving tomorrow  Sad, YUL-ORD-NRT. MD-80(yul-ord) and 777 from ord-nrt.

I have been on AA and being a tall guy I love the extra leg room...So I would have to say it is my favourite airline because I can be comfortable, just the POV of my Japanese girlfriend and me!!

maybe I will try to get her to write a trip report after!!!

Every U.S. airline gets bashed on this website. I think that Northwest gets bashed more than any other airline. About the only U.S. airline I hardly see bashed is Alaska, but they all get it. People have the right to their own opinions.

I love AA overall. For me it's still the best US airline together with Continental Airlines. It's stupid to say that AA is a cheap airline. They have a big network and their service is still good. I'm from Switzerland and for me is AA just the perfect choice to fly to the US and I'm very proud that they are working together with Swiss. So two great airlines are working togehter, that's always cool. I will fly AA later on this year to the USA and I will support them always.

I think CMK10 is trying to tell us that we shouldn't express our opinions about airlines... otherwise someone might get offended. But really I don't like AA. Compared to DL and UA (for me at least) i would say they are on a lower level. Especialy with those Fokker 100s. The plane might be a nice plane, but the shape that AA keeps them in... well lets not go there. But then again i couldn't say more about some of Delta's 767s.

United is still best though (sorry i didn't mean to offend anyone. i just like UA more than AA)

CMK10, you think FOOD is the root of it? HAH! Here's AA-bashing, fully justified:

They are a predatory airline, hell-bent on destroying other carriers. Two cases in point.

1. They will defend to the death the Wright Amendment, which prevents long-legged nonstops (or even same-plane direct service) out of Dallas' Love Field...which just HAPPENS to be Southwest's home base. How do they accomplish this? Politics. Their huge maintenance base at Alliance, Ft. Worth is keeping politicians at bay, thanks to the jobs and tax revenues it creates. In return, those politicians in the area (and in Washington) will defend this stupidly arcane amendment so that AA's fortress at DFW can be 'protected' at the expense of Southwest's operation at DAL.

2. You think that AA 'just got religion' and 'discovered' that Long Beach was a great place to fly to? HAH! They paid NO attention to that strip alongside 405 until someone ELSE did...namely JetBlue.

AA's 'food' may be marvelous; their predatory practices are not. I wish nothing but ill-will to a carrier with strategies and tactics like that...and I don't give a HOOT that two of their planes were among the four on 9/11. That fact has NOTHING to do with how AA runs its airline.

Actually ChrisNH- AA had Long Beach to DFW service before JetBlue even existed as an airline. But we can acuse all airlines of some good competition. Say United's new IAD-OAK, or AA's JFK-OAK... But that's alright because they are not getting politics into it. Wait no... wasn't AA making a big political thing from JetBlue having most of the slots in LGB... AA just can't handle competition, like some other airlines take it... compete in good ways.

So looks like there's actually something behind disliking AA...

PS a lot of people hate them for taking over TWA.

I for one love AA along with a lot of people here, but this is a public board and people can express their opinions. I for one don't care for flying Delta, but a lot of other people like Delta. We all have our favorite and our least favorite airlines and we just have to deal with it and not let it get personal. I like AA because:
-major hub where I live
-good service
-big route network
-Oneworld
-good partners
-Admirals club

I for one wasn't exactly thrilled when TWA was bought by American, but we must face it: Had AA not been there, many jobs would have been lost, Lambert would have practically been abandoned, and one of the world's great airlines would have been lost in the dust. Yes, Continental wanted TWA, but it only wanted certain parts whereas American wanted the whole airline.

One thing must be faced though: American has been around for 75 years, so they must be doing something right.

AA Sucks, and I'll tell you why... They moved out of Dallas Love Field to go to DFW in the 1970s... They tried to make Southwest leave and go to DFW too, but WN refused. Finally when Legend came into town. AA tried to prevent them from starting service using their friggin WRIGHT AMENDMENT. When that didn't work, they stripped some of their Fukkers, and went head up PREDATOR. They stayed their until Legend went under. Then they used 9/11 as an excuse. Now, they are repeating this whole thing again with jetBlue. But luckily jetBlue realizes what they are doing, and they are going around AA with their own DIRTY TRICKS... GO JETBLUE

Greetings:

Each airline on this forum has taken an equal amount of bashing. Everybody has their own opinion about an airline. Personally I love AA, you can't beat MRTC. AA Flies where I want to go and their fares are in line with everybody else. Yes Southwest and Jet Blue in NY might be cheaper but Southwest is like riding a bus and I don't like flying narrow bodies across country. I'm sorry but the A320 is just to small and to uncomfortable for transcon ops. AA is a fine carrier with the best people in the business.

Thanx
Tom

No offense, but I am constantly amazed that people think that TWA would still exist if it weren't for American. They were headed toward liquidation.

American did TWA employees a huge service by acquiring their failed operation.

Although it is sad to see TWA pass, at least most the organization will survive.

Thank you Greg! Finally somebody realizes my point!

Regarding DAL, you can't say that there was no pressure on AA to move. Something tells me that there was certainly pressure to sign that agreement saying they would move their ops to DFW. If they were still at DAL, there would be no way possible for them to have the ops at DAL that they do at DFW. Also, had Southwest been around when the airlines moved to DFW, I am sure they would have at least been pressured to sign it.

What most people don't seem to realize though, is that the DFW market is very hard to compete in as it is. You have Southwest and American based in the area and with the two of them being there, Legend was going to fade eventually. Specifically in the DFW market, American has played by the rules. They moved to DFW with the rest of the airlines and made no attempt to start service at DAL unless there was an existing carrier/rule there. Regarding Legend, you don't go into two of the world's largest airlines' home market and expect to win, because you aren't.
