I just checked through the PhotoIndex of a.net to see which of the european majors has the most pics in the database and I found that London (LHR) leads with 9364 pictures followed by Frankfurt with 7334 and Paris (CDG) with "only" 3361 pictures.
Then I wanted to see how a few other airports are represented in the a.net database and I only found LAX and HKG (new and old) to be up in the top leage with LHR and FRA....
Not even in Tokio where I had expected to find the absolute picture record there are only 1137 (all airports) pics.

Is spotting a dominated by europeans sport?

Here is the list of airports I had a look at:
1. LHR 9364
2. LAX 7715
3. FRA 7334
4. HKG 7204
5. PHX 3816
6. CDG 3361
7. YYZ 3050
8. JFK 3035
9. SFO 1752
10. ORD 1320
11. Tokio 1137
12. YYC 327
13. KIX 130

I know that If you look at every airport the whole picture will look kinda different but these were the airports I checked...

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Airports like LHR/LAX and FRA all have the most interesting widebodies from around the world, which is probably why they have the most number of pics in the database. That's how i see it.

I think a good observation deck can be very helpful as well. Take Zurich as an example. There are 7479 pictures in the database. Amazing !

Yes, I agree. Look at FRA, in my opinion one of the most spotter friendly airport around the world because there is the observation deck, the spotter point at rwy18....

That list must be wrong. Where is AMS on that list? LOL I think that Faro has more than 130 pictures.

Maybe you'd find more pictures of Tokio if you spelled it right... Tokyo.
