Does NW have any domestic routes using DC-10s or 747s (not including Hawaii)? Thanks.

I believe NW's domestic 747's are no longer now that the MSP-LAX run is operated with two DC-10s.

As far as DC-10s go, here are just some of the routes that NW operates DC-10s on:

MSP-ANC
MSP-BOS
MSP-DTW
MSP-MKE
MSP-LAX
MSP-SFO
MSP-SEA
MSP-MEM
MSP-HNL
DTW-LAX
DTW-SFO
DTW-SEA
DTW-HNL
DTW-MCO
SEA-HNL
LAX-HNL

Additions are welcome, that's all I can come up with off the top of my head.

We see NW DC-10's in MEM daily. I assume that they are coming from MSP?

Yep, last I heard MEM received two daily DC-10s from MSP. No DC-10s from Detroit or anywhere else for that matter as of yet. The DC-10 service may increase as the fourth bank of flights comes back online at Memphis International.

NW658 is a daily DC-10-40, operating MSP-MKE. It leaves Minneapolis at 7:12pm, arriving Mitchell Field at 8:33pm.

The return flight is NW659, a DC-10-40 leaving MKE at 8:40am and arriving MSP at 9:58am. It wouldn't shock me if this was a non-rev favorite.

PHX receives DC-10s in the winter months from both MSP and DTW.

I live in MKE. And I have heard that, the MSP-MKE route on a DC-10 is close to full most of time. They have been using the DC-10 to MKE for quite some years now. I hope the 757-300 will come to MKE that would be nice to see sometime.

So why does MSP have so much more DC-10 service than DTW? If DTW is supposedly NW's largest hub, its a little confusing.....I think it may have something to do w/ the fact that MSP has more market share in MSP, than they do in DTW, or something to that affect, can anyone tell me why this is??

BOS does not currently have any domestic DC-10 service on NW. I'm not sure if they the loads would support it, though every evening flight from MSP->BOS that I have been on has been stuffed. All of the flights are on 752/A320/A319/DC9 aircraft.

I would imagine that 753 equipment would be used on the route at some point in the future.

TOL has 744 service from MSP & DTW a couple times a month. Okay...so there aren't any pax on those planes...but hey, it's nice seeing them stop in for a bit.  Big grin

It also pays off with TOL being the main diversion airport for Northwest...so far a handful of DC-9s, 727s, and also a DC-10 from LGW have stopped in to say hello.

Any opinion/comment posted is that of my own and not that of Southwest Airlines Co.

BOS, MCO, SFO are no longer operated with DC10's. As has been
mentioned many times previously on this site, the DC10-40s will
be retired by Sept 5th of this year. The B757-300 is the main aircraft
that will replace the 10's with a few 10-30's moving over from the
International side to operate the HNL flights. Book your flights
now guys and gals..because other than the HNL flights, your not
going to see a NW widebody domestically much longer....

No service anymore from SFO-HNL.

Here's an easy way to get to the bottom of this fluid question. Go to nwa.com and look at their schedules. Remember that schedules change several times a year based on traffic volumes. Go look at the timetable online!
There you'll find the most accurate answers to your questions regarding the timetable.
