Thank you for the update. I have noticed LH having a lot of activity in the Gulf region lately, mainly in Bahrain and Qatar. Are they planning to resuming flights to Bahrain or adding Doha? According to recent figures released by LH they registered and increase of 25% of passengers originating in Bahrain and 40% of passengers originating in Doha! so far this year.
"During the first five months of this year, traffic from Bahrain increased by 25 per cent and from Doha by 40 per cent, over the corresponding period last year. Though we do not operate to these countries, passengers from this region have been using our services at an increased level from other points in the Gulf." - Uwe Wriedt, Lufthansa's director for Gulf, Iran and Pakistan and general manager for passenger sales-UAE
Oh and I forgot to add that LH will be resuming their codeshare with QR soon.

In a german forum I´ve read that Lufthansa has indirectly confirmed that they are at least interested in the ex-SIA birds, for all German-speaking members:
[Beginn]

Here the translation:

The Lufthansa press department has answered this on a question if they will aquire all available ex-SQ A340-300:
"Dear Mr. X,
as there are talks on different levels at the moment at several szeneries are under consideration we cannot say anything right now. However the version you mentioned [LH purchases the SQ A343] is possible."
[End]
Thomas, ich hoffe ich habe deinen Text nicht zu stark verstümmelt.

QatarAirways-Hi! I flew LH on the Karachi-Bahrain and return leg in 1994, not many passengers got off or on from Bahrain, more than 90 per cent were bound for Frankfurt and beyond on the first trip less than 10 got off in BAH including myself, and majority were Pakistani's on the return leg who had boarded the flight at Frankfurt, Lufthansa were operating the much smaller A310-300 at the time on the route. So I doubt Bahrain will be back in their network not sure about Qatar.

Hi Gerardo,
yes I am. I called the Lufthansa corporate communications office to ask about this, because I suppose this deal would also include the aircraft Air Switzerland intends to buy. They answered by e-mail and I published it in a German forum.
Best regards
Thomas
