As the topic says, Big thanks to you HKGspotter! I was so pleased to see this photo uploaded to the database I just had to make a public thank you! Ever since you showed me this print in HKG back in 1999 I had always wanted to see this shot again! Out of all the inflight shots of the IGS approach to Kai Tak, this one takes the gold metal of all shots. It has the checkerboard, Lion rock, the mighty 747-400 wing, and the classic Hong Kong cloudy sky! All in all it is a perfect shot and It easily has made it to my wall paper now!

Cheers!
Brian

This is a beautiful shot. I wish I could have witnessed the magic of Kai Tak. Is there any airport here in the States or Canada that has an approach thats Kai Takish?  Smile

Yes it's a fantastic shot. I like cabin window shots & some of the Kai Tak pictures in this category of photos are superb!

Hkgspotter1 is a talented photographer, and someday I'll see him do his magic in person (like hopefully this coming Saturday Daryl!!)  Smile

Well Thank you very much for that Brian. The truth is when I took the pic I was waiting for the checker board to pass the window, it was luck that Lion Rock was lined as well !!

You're welcome Daryl. But your Kai Tak shots are great that I can't praise them enough.

As it stands now yes, I'll be able to make it. It's about time I go spotting with you guys. Besides, I haven't gone spotting in ages, not since the A346 arrived on its promotional tour in Hong Kong, on that wet day. Remember? I saw you guys for the first time, should've come up & said hi! Oh well...

By the way, happy birthday, kind of late, but what the hey  Smile

Yes, this is definitely one brilliant shot! It reminds me of the lovely days of Kai Tak, approaching when I was a younger lad sitting at the window after a long flight.

Daryl, Happy Birthday, hope to see you tomorrow. I doubt I will be able to make it this Saturday, I have to go sailing.

Keep up the good work Hkgspotter1!

Trevor

Brian,

Do you send pics in to Airliners.net ?, if you do you will know how hard it is !!, I'll try and send in some more pictures from the helicopter trip.

Daryl,

Yes I have tried before, but not having a scanner and uncooperative friends that do have one leads me to not bother much anymore. But I do understand the difficult nature of it all! However I would be willing to bet those pics from your Heli flight over Kai Tak would make it to the database easily! I think I speak for most viewers here, Airliners.net cant get enough Kai Tak photos!

Cheers!
Brian
