If Im not mistaken AI operate a single DC-8F for cargo operations, the aircraft is leased and does not wear the AI livery except for titles and its old. Considering they are gifting their three A300s to Ariana-Afghan Airlines, why didnt they think of retaining one and converting it to cargo confuiguration? especially since there is a conversion facility in India according to an Indian member here, wouldnt it work out for AI in every way? full livery, conversion at home, own much newer aircraft and no more lease payments, makes sense.

Freight operations are cheaper to run via ACMI leases rather than running a dedicated sub-fleet of 1 aircraft. The 3 A300s were always a pain in the ass for AI with their lack of common rating with the A310s and the 3-man flightcrew. No one will miss them.
