I know that Embraer was established in 1969 in Brazil, but I wondered who established them and who owns them now. Also why did they decide to get into the commercial jet business in the mid 90's. I've also noticed that the newer products coming on line will be a lot bigger than the current RJs. Will we ever see them expand their product line to compete with Airbus and Boeing?

Thanks Ivo. I had already looked at www.embraer.com but I didn't find the info so thanks for the directions.
I notice that EADS owns a part of Embraer, as well as 80% of Airbus and some of ATR. It would make sense to me if Embraer were marketed under the Airbus umbrella. What does anyone else think.
