Due to the runaway success of CO's AMS-IAH service, in August, it will be upgraded to a 777-200 a/c  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The CO reservations site is now showing a 777 for the IAH-AMS-IAH flights......this route really "took off" as they say. Interesting that CO originally planned a 764 for this route and went with the 762 after the downturn in airline traffic; and the result, a 777 is required!

Hopefully, this will encourage CO to open more transatlantic routes out of EWR, IAH and CLE. Possibly a CLE-AMS flight will be announced soon?

CO must have an "extra" 777 available to do this......any info?

I am quite suprised at this equipment upgrade, i never really expect a new route to become so popular so quickly unless there's huge demand which i think is the case in IAH-AMS. Oh well...good news.

does anyone know how KLM's own AMS-IAH service has faired since CO have entered the market? are BOTH flights code-shared with each other?

Great news!!
AMS could use more 777s. Although with the KLM 777s arriving next year...
As for the success of the route, KLM has been running a daily 747 service for like ages now to IAH. I guess most of them were 747Combis though.

Interesting question HUYfan... Also, what is the part of the O&D traffic and that of the connection @ IAH?
