Today at DSM (Des Moines Iowa) a 727 with Kitty Hawk painted on the side came in. I have never seen a Kitty Hawk 727 before. Can someone give me some background on Kitty Hawk and what it was doing in DSM?

Thanks
Paul

KittyHawk has been around for many years. The last I knew, last year, they were based at Meacham Field in FT Worth, Texas. They are the airline that bought American International Airways several years ago. (subsequently repurchased by Connie Kalitta). The airline is a contract cargo carrier.

Damn, this website is getting worse daily.

They're based out of Dallas and their freight-hub is Fort Wayne International (in Indiana).
I believe DSM gets a daily from FWA. It's just usually in the wee hours of the morning.

Kitty Hawk has a base here in Fort Worth, with a hangar at DFW. They operate 727 cargo flights to some of the US cities. Matter of fact I saw one this morning as I passed by their hangar. White with red horizontal stripes!!

They visit SLW (Saltillo, Coahuila, MEXICO) very often. Old planes, loud planes, boring livery, but are the biggest in SLW.  Smile

David.
