Hello everyone! I live in Orlando and have noticed that ATA is bringing back their L-1011s into scheduled service. Why is that? I flew on ATA in February and March on their 753s and 738s and thought of how nice these new planes were. But now they've gotten rid of the 753s and 738s on such routes as MCO-IND or IND-MCO (which are the two I fly the most of) and put in L-1011s and 752s. Does anyone know why? Thanks

I believe the L-1011 is only operating IND-MCO-SJU for the summer season, only 1 in scheduled service with the remaining L-1011's still flying military charters. I'm not sure why they're only operating this one scheduled flight with the aircraft, extra capacity perhaps. On another note, I've heard rumors of 767's for ATA sometime in the future.

When I was down in Orlando two weeks ago, I stayed up in Winter Park which is in the landing pattern for MCO. I saw L1011s, 753s and 738s. I would check flightarrivals.com and i know there is an L1011 that comes from IND around 11am or so and an L1011 around 8 pm from SJU. Around 10am or so a 753 comes in from Midway. Obviously any ATA flight from Midway isnt gonna use an L1011

The Main reason for the L1011 is SJU. The Loads are HUGE during the summer, hence the increased capacity. There is also a second flight to SJU on the 757-200.I think it will run until mid September. A true $$$ maker.

Well, isn't that nice. I was at MCO too just a few weeks ago, and we were at the gate in our MD-11 and I saw the L-1011's reflection, but didn't catch it taking-off, just the reflection in the windows of the terminal.
