Hi everybody,

Today the Irish low cost airline Ryanair will start 2 new destinations from Charleroi / Brussels South airport (CRL / EBCI) in Belgium.

  • Rome / Ciampino (CIA), Italy : once daily
  • Liverpool (LPL), UK : once daily

They also add as from today new frequencies on the following routes :

  • Pisa (PSA), Italy : now 2 daily flights
  • Venice / Treviso (TSF), Italy : now 2 daily flights

In addition to those lines, Ryanair also flies from CRL to :

  • DUB - Dublin, Ireland : 3 daily flights (average)
  • STN - London / Stansted, UK : 4 daily flights except Saturday (3 flights)
  • CCF - Carcassonne, France : 1 daily flight
  • PIK - Glasgow / Prestwick, UK : 1 daily flight
  • SNN - Shannon, Ireland : 1 daily flight

    Schedules on http://www.ryanair.com

This also marks the beginning of the summer season in Charleroi. This year, charter flights will operate as follows :

  • Palma de Mallorca (PMI), Spain : Wednesday and Sunday, Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium
  • Monastir (MIR), Tunisia : Wednesday, Nouvelair Tunisie
  • Pescara (PSR), Italy, then on to Palermo (PMO), Italy : Saturday, Alisea Airlines (new Italian airline)

Note that Air Algerie is considering offering several punctual flights from CRL to Algeria this summer if demand is sufficient (important algerian community in Charleroi).

    François

The twice daily to Pisa and Treviso are more a resumption, cause also last summer they offered two daily flights, but they reduced to one in the winter. I would like to see if they will keep two daily flights also for next winter, but I suspect they will go back to one on both PSA and TRV and they will use the other two flights to start a new destination, rumors talks Milan Orio (BGY) or a destination in Scandinavia.

    Sabena 690,

Yes, Ryanair operates a mix of 732s and 738s. Most of the flights are operated by 732s.

Thomas Cook Airlines flies A320s (saw one parked yesterday !), Alisea will be flying with 737 (734 I guess). I don't know what a/c type it will be for Nouvelair (A320 or MD-83).

Since June 27th, Ryanair has 3 737s parked in CRL at night (2 previously).

    Thanks Brusselssouth for the info!!!

I would like to fly a B732, most airlines are replacing this lovely bird.

Doesn't FR has problems with the noise regulations? Or is the Walloon government also helping them with this problem  Big grin

    Regards,
    Frederic

    Sabena 690,

    I've flown FR 732s three times :

  • CRL-STN, EI-CJE, B737-204A (with the 'Jaguar' color scheme !), May 2001
  • CRL-STN, EI-CJE, B737-204A (The same, 1 year later, same route !), May 2002
  • STN-CRL, EI-CKP, B737-2K2A, May 2002.

BTW, I've also flown on one of their 738s.

The cabins were looking quite old, on board EI-CKP, the signs were still written in Dutch (previous owner) : "Exit - Uitgang".

All the 732s they fly in CRL are chapter 3 - hushkitted, but I can tell you (as I live near the airport) that I hear much more noise in my appartment when a 732 takes off, than when a 738 do !

    Regards
