Singapore Airlines Chairman Koh Boon Hwee, has said that Singapore Airlines has no intention at the moment to buy into Virgin Blue or to set up an airline in Australia on behalf of Star Alliance.

When asked if SIA would take a stake in DJ, he said, "Is it possible? Yes, it is possible. But are we considering it now? The answer is no."

He said that SIA instead will concentrate on enhancing it competitive advantage and increasing yields.

"While our S$632 million profit after tax was a very good result considering the prevailing conditions, we must naturally aim for a stronger performance in this financial year, even though yields may be slow to recover," Koh said.
