Just simply like the header says.
Check out these absolute magnificant photos taken from commercial space imaging satelite IKONOS. This satelite orbits at 500km or so, and delivers images with resolution down to just 1m. Just absolutely magnificant!! Check out all the widebodies at CLK!
Some pics can be downloaded for free [go to pic of the week] @ 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 or 1280x1024.
You can order pics from their database, but they'll cost you $7 per square kilometer. This is not too bad, but you need to order at least 49 square kilometres...
They advertise this as 777:
7x7 km for $7 per sq km...
There's more, including a nice B&W pic of the new DIA and the old Kai Tak some years after it was closed down, but I could not find them. Need to do some searching...
Let me know guys if you find more airports!

Cool pictures! I have a load at home, either on my PC or on A4 glossy paper. My dad gets them as they are being fed back by the satellite envisat (I think that the ESA are not using the satellite like they are supposed to ), and then all the people who were on the project get one.
Pretty cool huh? Its amazing how far they can zoom in as well, like to the size of sports stadiums and such.

DCA looks awesome, probably my favorite US airport (after EWR).

Download direct from satelite... WOW, great stuff!
If you have any airport pics, I would be heavily interested...!
Could you E-mail me, check my profile.
You're right, the zoom is just absolute amazing! Until, maybe 10-20 years ago, this was top secret military terrain, now its commercially available! However at a price [unless you have a envisat downlink]. Makes you wonder what resolution NSA/CIA reaches these days...
Thanks,

Anyone else found more airport pics?

Glad you enjoy the site. Too bad CLK isn't completely covered by this pic. Do you have any pics showing the complete airport?
BTW What is the official 3 and 4 letter code of Hong kong nowadays? Is it CLK?
The site also has some stunning pre/post photos of the 911 tragedy sites. It gives me shivers every time I look at them. I think they clearly show the shear scale and enormity of what happened...

Awsome stuff. It's really amazing what you can fin on the net. I'm sure that you're all familiar with this website http://www.terraserver.com, but just in case you haven't been there you can also access free satellite imagery. I was able to make out an apartment building that I used to live in. Amazing, and this isn't even the "state-of-the-art" stuff that the government has.

National has changed a bit since I was there last, in 1986. Looks as though the parking garage is no longer a good spotting location.
I think though that I'll just remember DCA as it was 30 years ago. Dulles also. I miss the days when airports were welcoming places. Now it seems as though I'm in a bus terminal. Sigh.
But I, again, digress. I love looking at satellite photos of our earth.
What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.
