I've been there before, the ambience is cool, but I've never seen a crowd when I've gone before, so we usually don't stay long. I'm not sure if it's still open anymore actually, anyone know?

Looks like a bar even I would enjoy!

That reminds me when I was a college student in Montreal (1966-71) There was a discotheque on the top floor of the Royal Bank building at Place Ville Marie (around the 50th floor, or so) called Altitheque 727 - a dicso, 727 feet above sea level. The windows looked like airplane windows, and as you looked out at the lights of the city below, you realy did have the sensation of flying.

I've been toying with doing something like this myself for a couple of years - there have been various incarnations of this idea I've seen in various places, including real aircraft converted into bars or restaurants. If they'd let me ship in an old 747 fuselage from the Arizona desert to the Leidseplein area of Amsterdam, I'd build the best airline themed bar in history. I'm also seeking investors for this idea, so you can contact me privately if you've got extra money sitting around.

kind regards,

RogueTrader

I was there once. Well worth it in my opinion from an aviation point of view. Not to many ladies there but I went at 5 PM on a Wednesday. Mostly businessmen that got off working were the main patrons and it was not to crowded. They have a very nice happy hour by the way when I went. Not to sure how far away it is from the PATH. It would be neat to meet there. I could get there around 6PM how does a week from tommorow (July 9th) sound?

Sorry for the double post, but if we get a large group of maybe 10 or more I would be willing to call them and see about if they can cut us a deal of some sort. Post a message here saying you are interested and email me.

It's not anywhere near the PATH, but that's what taxis, busses and/or NYC subways are for.

I'd be willing to go, but only if seven_fifty7 can come  Big grin

I took the liberty to call the bar and they said they no longer have any happy hour specials. I also inquired if they could give us a break if I were able to bring about 10 or more aviation enthusiasts for a night next week. They said that they would not be possible but they would love to have us. My computer is going in for repairs tomorrow and I won't be back online till Saturday. If you are interested in meeting July 9th around 6 or 6:30 email me and post a message here. I will get back to you this weekend.

I did not ask when the best night to go was sorry about that. About the 9th that is the first day I can go. If it would be better to have something a little later in the week for everyone or another week then I guess just post what few days would be good and we can all figure it out what day would be best to go.
