Can anyone tell me if there is a site where you can
find overview pictures of airports?

I have already seen at airliners.net.
Is there another site who have this kind of pictures.

Thanks

Mark

The FSDO up in Fairbanks, Alaska apparently got some grant money and went around the state taking shots of the airports here.

This is the link to their site. http://www.alaska.faa.gov/fai/airports2.htm

Try this one, here are also some nice airport overviews, just not as nice as A.net!!
http://www.airpics.com

Also, some very good and high quality pics can be found on http://www.mapquest.com

In section "Maps", select the airport you want to look at, zoom in, and select "aerial photo".
The only downside is, that you will get a small pic only. Now the tric is to download all these small pics in max resolution, or one step more coarse, and copy/paste all these little pics to one giant pic using a photo editor. This is very simple, although somewhat time consuming...to say the least!! I did it with microsoft photo editor, and the results are absolutely amazing. Got some fabulous large photos of MIA, DTW, ATL, DFW, MSP etc.

Don't be affraid of these large URL's, just click em!!

DTW

ATL

Mind you, these pics are not at max zoom!!

Especially the MSP pic is just awesome, since it was taken during departure rush hour. You can see over 30 [!] redtails waiting for take-off from 12L and 12R.

Unfortunately, I don't have a website. If someone has a website and wants to upload the full size pics that I constructed, let me know and I can send them by E-mail.

Phbug

You're welcome! Hope you enjoy them, but that shouldn't be a problem! I find mapquest pics really fabulous.

mapquest is amazing, however i often look at Philadelphia international airport and the picture is about 1 or 2 yrs old, now i know for many airports they dont change much over a couple years however PHL has changed tremendously over the past couple years and unfortunately the mapquest picture doesnt show any of these recent changes

yeah Mapquest still had DTW with Northwest still using the Davey Terminal, but you can see the Mac terminal being built. Looks like it was taken about Sept 2000.
