Today SNBA had to use a VG aircraft OO-SFR to do the DKR - BJL flight.
The aircraft foreseen OO-SFO was not ready for the flight, so the VG aircraft is doing the operation for today, but still under SN flight number and operated by SNBA.

Hello MD-11er,

What happened with the SNBA aircraft? Mechanical problems?

There were some problems I believe this morning.

This is what I got from Sabena:

SN 204 BANJUL (BJL) 05:45 05:38 05:36 SFM LANDED

SN 473 BRUSSELS (BRU) 06:00 06:01 05:59 SFN LANDED

SN 475 ENTEBBE (EBB) 06:00 SFN CANCELLED

SN 359 BRUSSELS (BRU) 07:35 06:51 06:51 SFO LANDED

It seems that there were some testflights or so.

Regards,
Frederic

Hi SN690,

There was a technical problem, but I don't know which one.
OO-SFR does the flight now.
Tomorrow there are only 2 flights planned like every Tuesday. So the aircraft has 48 hours to be repaired, and have a little rest.

Thanks MD11-er!

How many pax were booked on the flight? Because, if the flight was sold out, not all the pax could have a seat in the smaller A332.

Flight was fully booked for the outbound flight. DKR is a big tourists destination and with the beginning of the summer season it was even overbooked.
As on Africa there are always a lot of no shows I don't know what the final count was.
On the VG's 200 there are about 30 seats less then on Birdy's 300.

MD-11er.

Sorry for briefly going off topic a little bit.

Did anybody notice VG Airlines' advertisement in the press last weekend?

In the "Financieel Economische Tijd" I noticed a very cute little ad of VG Airlines promoting their new flights to Los Angeles.

The ad showed a nice cartoon with a "smurf/shtroumph" and a "smurfin/stroumphette" (=famous Belgian cartoon characters) with a film camera under the arm, boarding the IV aircraft on their way to Hollywood.  Big thumbs up

I was moved to see such a simple & cute cartoon appear as an airline advertisement in a stiff financial newspaper.

The ad mentioned that VG Airlines was the only airline offering direct flights between Brussels and Los Angeles, however they didn't mention a reservation number or a web address!!!  Confused

Regards,

Established02
