Did anyone else hear a very loud jet in the Detroit area today, north of DTW.
It was way too loud to be Stage III compliant.
I had heard it around the Livonia area, Livonia is about 15 miles North of DTW. Planes at DTW today were taking off to the south anyway, this aircraft was headed north by its sound.
I was thinking military, but I thought Selfridge was not in use this summer since the runway is closed down for repairs (hence that is why the airshow is cancelled this yea). Selfridge has F-16s based there, but the aircraft did not sound like an F-16. This aircraft sounded something like a B-52 or B-1 or something Stage 1, but big not some Lear Jet that is still Stage 1.

I assume though that the Omega Air 707 would be Stage III compliant though, or at least Stage II. I have never heard any of the old DC-8s of Kalitta at YIP that loud, nor any of Northwests 727s taking off over Livonia area being that loud prior to Stage III. Besides today the aircraft were taking off to the south and not over the western suburbs of Detroit.
I am thinking it was military, but I don't know from where since I hear Selfridge is temporarilly closed for runway rebuilding.

HlywdCatft,
I can reconfirm your post, I posted a reply under the Concorde subject, I thought it was on the 2nd, but maybe it was on the 1st.. anyway, I heard it twice in the morning and I actually saw the fighter jet when I heard it the second time. I'm right next to Livonia on the north. (FHills).

What was it?
It was too loud to be a single F-16, there must have been a couple of them.
