Air New Zealand said that the major pilots union has given notice that it will organise a 2 day strike this month.

"It is also asking all employee groups (including ALPA members) to accept a 12-month wage pause to help it regain commercial viability after the group came close to collapse last year", the airline said.

ALPA, says the strike would occur from 0400 (1600GMT) July 19 to 0400 (1600GMT) July 21. This strike is to do with job security and not pay it said.

"Air New Zealand is seeking to exercise what it perceives to be its right to send people's work to any subsidiary it wants to, and as a result remove the job security of Air New Zealand pilots," union advocate Adam Nicholson said.

Ah, geez. Are those dates firm?? I'm supposed to haul arse back to Australia around that time. I'm already cutting it close to the beginning of uni. Also have US domestic tickets that can't be changed.

This is the time. And this is the record of the time.

I would expect so unless they reach a deal. Hopefully ANZ will help you get to Australia with another airline.
