Hey where's Singapore_Air??

From December 2002 Singapore Airlines will introduce the B 777-200 on it's 5x weekly flights between Singapore and Christchurch! Don't no which version yet though.

STD SIN 2105 STA CHC 1200
STD CHC 1500 STA SIN 2050

Some good news for CHC spotters!  Smile

It appears AKL services will stay as a 744 for now though!

Congratulations ZK-NBT. However, route news is not an area I am particularly strong in.

They're already adding more flights to CHC in September using the Celestar.

I think you will get the Normal Jubilee.

Not really surprised as they're already retiring the A343, and the B772 would definetely replace the long-haul routes that the A343 are operating.

Also, 9V-SV series would be employed.

Best Regards

Sorry for my mistake, it's actually deployed on the SIN-CHC route.

Oh the SV?

In the past SIA hasn't really put the newest planes on New Zealand routes so why are they starting now with the lovely SV* Jubilees?

Oh well. At least you get the SpaceBed.  Laugh out loud

Well distance does matter on which 'kind' of B777s they will deploy on the route. Normal Jubilee? What's the difference between the normal and the special?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

hehe Mr.BA.

I class the 772 as Normal Jubilee. 772ER is Special Jubilee. Though they are both lovely, 772ER is given more special treatment (because of SIA's silly rule of mass product differentiation).

Well I doubt it will be the 9V-SQ_ series since they have first class!
Probably will be the 9V-SV series which are ER's.

As for AKL well I don't no because you are the only person I have heard that from Rob! More SQ flights would be nice though.

SQ now places the newer Megatops on the daily AKL run Singapore_Air at least not the oldest SM series ones that used to come nearly everyday!

Also I strongly believe that you should work on your route news area!  Laugh out loud

Don't the SQ 343s have first class?

so I think that they have a 3 class 772 on this flight.

My bet is that it'll be the two-class ER version. SQ may operate First Class now to CHC with their 343s but premium traffic to CHC is pretty thin.

We've been told it will be an ER aircraft and 3 x times weekly, Monday, Friday and Saturday. It may not have the space beds either as this are only on routes over a certain flight time or routes where they are already offered by the competition such as SIN-SYD.

The extra flights to Christchurch, SQ 6295 and 6296 were withdrawn 5 May.

That's all we've been told so far.

The latest ER aircraft commenced flights to Jeddah 1 July.

July will also see the return of the A340-300 on the Vancouver run due to the temporary closure of one of the required ETOPS enroute alternate Russian Airports. The B777 should be back end of July begining of August.

I heard that SQ don't sell first class seats on the CHC run even though the 343's do have first class seats, can't remember where I heard that though.

I heard the 3 class 772's wouldn't have the range to do SIN-AKL although I think they will, CHC though will probably be an ER version so one of the new 9V-SV_ series.

All SIA B777-200 aircraft are ER or IGW versions as they were known orginally. The SQ and SR series aircraft though are not certified to the ER take-off weight, the engines are down rated, and there are no crew rest facilities.

I heard from someone that should know that SQ are only waiting for more ERs & approval from Singapore before they start 772s twice daily into AKL (morning & afternoon) instead of the current daily 744. This could be as early as first quarter 2003.

So this route would then no longer offer first class right?
Morning and afternoon sounds good although I would have thought a late night departure would have made more sence arriving in SIN early morning.

I don't seem anything strange that this route does not offer first class anymore since:

Rome
Copenhagen
Jeddah

All 3 destinations were operated by the A343 before. Also considering that first class is not a necessity on these routes due to the fact with minor competition. Maybe there are some more routes i forgot though.

As the flight would be around 10 hours, definetely would be the 9V-SV series!

Best Regards

Even SIN-CHC-SIN doesn't have First Class anymore. It's being replaced by Raffles Premium Class, essentially First Class seat with Raffles Class service, at US$200 more.

If i remember correctly, Copenhagen also had this arrangement beforethe 772ER replaced the A340 on that route
