Latest off BBC. Based on the speeds and direction of the a/c he would have needed 90 seconds to avoid the collision.

The question is still why only 44 seconds?

And the russian pilot reacted within 14 seconds, not 25 seconds as mentioned earlier.

Analyzing the flight recorders will take weeks, as they are all damaged.
