About 450 km from Bru but no problem to drive to there when I know something is coming. With the fact that there is no speedlimit, I am there in max. 3 hours.
But not tomorrow I have a flight to NBO;
i4LL TRY TO COME ON THE 19th when a meeting was made by one of the users.
Someone please make sure a special QF, CX and GF will be there too.
Ivica or Konstantin can't you force something LOL.

I agree, FRA is also my favorite airport because it is very spotter friendly, there are a lot of good locations and the variety of airlines and planes is just terrific. In a few minutes I am going to drive to DUS to check out the new people mover and also for a little bit spotting.

This is really funny, all you spotters in Germany seeing CX's new special 'Asia's World City' colour scheme before most spotters in Hong Kong have!! But we'll see it sooner or later
What's spotting at FRA like? I hear there's a purpose-built observation deck in the terminal. I'd love to go spotting at some of the big European airports, like LHR, FRA, CDG, AMS, ZRH. More variety of airlines & aircraft than in Hong Kong and other Asian airports. They all seem spotter-friendly too, which is always a good thing.

Spotting at FRA is very good. You have the observation deck on Terminal 1 and the observation deck on Terminal 2 (unfortunately is the deck on T2 closed at the moment), from both you have a very good view to the ramp and 25R and 25L. A second spot is at Runway 18, from that location you can see only take off rolls because it is only in use for that, no landings on this runway. A third spot is in front of 25 R and 25L, we spend a lot of time there yesterday because the approaching planes are flying approximately 30 meters above you. I enjoyed every day at FRA because there is always something special and the a.net members I met there are very cool.

Yes, it was a very nice meeting yesterday full of joyness and thankfulness to SQ, Iran Air and the Russian fraction. Standig at the "A5" looking forward to see a over flying e.g. TU-154, TU204, 747's or a huge galaxy (loud as hell).. Four Special liveries and a warm weather conditions. A nice day!
I visited my parents this day and went to an small airfield near Moehnesee (that's 25 minutes to DTM) where an airshow-weekend took place. A lot of N-riegistraited Cessnas, Antonov 2 with LH livery (in the 50' former LH later Interflug), Dornier 128-6(Do-28D-2 converted with turboprop engines to a 128-6) some 1:6 modeled aircrafts and a five 'crafts of Sukhoi-29.
After a very fast ride and picking up Sabena332 we arrived at DUS. We catched a site of one of the very last 767's of LTU and we drove around with the new sky-train.

To answer Donder10's question....
I live about 100km south of FRA. I usually drive, since the train is quite expensive and the parking fees at FRA are much less.
Being from the US, I can say the FRA is a great place to spot from. Even though the T1 OBS deck can get crowded, it is nice that you don't have to be worried about being chased away when watching planes takeoff and land.
My daughter loves the airport as well. She is starting to do some spotting, though she likes going to the gift shop and to McDonalds. While there is much better food to be had at FRA, the view can't be beat.

There were several C-5's on the Rhein Main side of FRA on Saturday. Most of them were homebased out of Dover. There was also a few C-17's there as well. There was a KC-135 sitting on the Tarmac, along with an ATA L-1011. I'll look through the photo's I took to see if there were any 141's parked.
I was surprised at the amount of aircraft on the AF side, it was quite busy there.

...looks like I have to go there for spotting, too. I've seen the big Antonovs in Berlin, but the old Galaxy..well, that was years ago. Do you happen to have any new pics of those?? I'd love to see one.

I looked through my shots from Satuday and did not have any specific photos, but there are some C-5's in the background of these photos. Like I said, quite a lot of stuff there. Not the best quality shots, but you get the idea.
Thomas Cook with 2 C-5's in the background
Yugoslav Airlines (JAT) DC-9-32 with C-5 and ATA L-1011 in background
In the background of this Singapore Airlines shot there is 2 C-5, KC-135, a partial of a C-17, and another AF transport in the hanger.
Background of Royal Jordanian jet shows 6 C-17's, along with a Fedex jet in the hanger.
25 Sabena332: Thanks for posting the pics Lenny! Patrick
26 Andreas: I appreciate that! Still I don't think they are seen in FRA that often, so congrats for the shots!! Regards Andreas
27 Na: Since last autumn its very common to see masses of USAF transporters in FRA. Almost every day there is the odd dozen of Galaxys and C-17s. I can see t
28 Udo: Hi Lenny, Thanks a lot for the great pictures...what a camera! It was also a pleasure for me to talk to you, hope to meet you soon again at FRA! Regar
