777 Vs. 747 Safety

This thread might belong in the tech/ops forum..but I just wanted to hear from pilots and people in the know...is the 777 just as safe as the 747 in terms of redundancy of backup systems? Taking into account that the 747 has 2 more engines, flying over the ocean, what do you think?
