Delta Will Start Non Stop To PSP

Delta will inaugurate nonstop seasonal winter service from Atlanta to Palm Springs CA on 01Dec02.
Schedules as follows :
DL1721 ATL 1020-1204 PSP
DL1720 PSP 1330-2029 ATL
Flights will operate with a Boeing 737-800 through 30Apr03.

That's what makes the 738 so great. DL could not "fly" this route before the 738 because before the 738 they would most likely have to go with a 757 or larger, which might result in too much unsold space to justify the flight. I don't know if an MD88 type could fly all that way, but I also don't think that DL would put that type of plane on that type of route.

With the heat of PSP summers and large amount of fuel required, the 727 would be severely weight restricted. The 738 is by far the best choice.

Actually, the 727 would have no problem on that particular route, as it is only seasonal, winter only. Deltas flown 727s on Atl-Slc, Cvg-Sfo etc. etc. so it would have no problem.
