If you think about it, American has had the same paint job since the 70s haven't they? Do you think it will change anytime soon? Or will it always stay the same because its a classic? For example the New York Yankees, they'll change uniforms because its so classic.

They just painted 130 TWA planes in the current livery......I think that if they had intentions of changing the livery any time soon they would have done so before they repainted all those planes
Thx

Is there really a need to change it?

with american counting for huge losses i dont think this is a priority, plus the old scheme looks fabulous on the 777's and 767's

as far as the narrow bodies, change is needed.

my opinion, love it or leave it.

ual 777 contrail

If they change it, I think that it will be a minimal change, like maybe a new font for the titles or an additional logo or something like that. Most of their image is the metallic bird, and I think that it will stay that way for a good time.

The current livery introduced in 1968 looks great on their fleet.

However, I'd like to see AA do a few of their planes using the 1964 Astrojet retro livery, though.  Big thumbs up

Yes, That livery is here to stay  Sad. I think they should keep the current livery but "modernize" it a little bit. At least curve the stripes, and put A M E R I C A N in Script.

BTW -- Put a big critter on the tail and see what happens.  Smile

I hope they dont. And if they do I hope they dont go through the convulsions Delta and British Airways have gone through (Delta's "Marc Chagal" scheme is atrocious and uninspired (thoguh at least if the painted all their planes like the "PowerPuff Girls" atleast they would set themselves apart from the rest of the boring white fuselages) and the cartoon tales of BA are so undignified(if they would stick with one, like "Chelsea Rose", that would be nice however).

The AA livery is a classic. It's timeless. I hope they leave it as is.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

An old concept I came up with for a new American livery:

though unlikely to ever happen for the reasons described above.
