I've heard that the Pope will be flying into Toronto YYZ on July 23 for World Youth Day. Does anyone have any details as to what planes he may be on an arrival time? And I'm going to be connecting thru YYZ to YUL around noon and should I expect any delays?

Anyone heading to YYZ should expect delays or even cancelled flts due to the weather. We are having T-storms and terrential rainfalls here in the past 24hrs. T-storms and rains are expected in next couple of hrs frm now on. Ramp activities/operations will be put on hold again if T-storms continue.
There are many flts delayed, diverted or cancelled due to the stoppage of ramp operations.
There is one TS flt diverted, and BA093 is subj. to delay or divert.

Given the fact that the Pope could be a high potential for a terrorist attack, would it not make sense to fly him in privately? Is it confirmed he is on a sched carrier? SSV carried the huge cross that goes with the Pope on the flight inbound to YYZ from FCO yesterday.

The pope always has an airplane to himself...can you imagine if he walked on to an Alitalia 767 in rome? the entire airplane would go crazy....generally he flies in on a charterd Alitalia plane, and flies out of the country on the nationa's flag carrier (Air Canada) But with his trip down to central america I think he is leaving YYZ on a chartered TACA flight.

-- Not true anymore. Italians have become as secular and lapsed as any Christians anywhere. Italy also has one of the world's lowest birth rates. They would probably just shrug and hope to hell the flight left on time....regardless of who was aboard.
Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Grupo Taca will transport the Pope from Toronto to Guatemala and then on to Mexico. The A320, designated 'Messenger of Hope' will depart Toronto at 11:45am on July 29th and arrive at La Aurora airport in Guatemala at 3:00pm.
On Tuesday, July 30th, the same A320 will depart La Aurora at 4:30pm and arrive at Mexico City's Benito Juarez Int'l Airport at 7:30pm.
This is the third time Grupo Taca transports the Pope, and the following is the official 'logo' the airline is using for the event.

A380, bite your tounge! (heh heh) I'm only joking, of course.
Well, it'll be an interesting for spotters, I imagine. However, I'm sure many will be disappointed because he'll probably land on 24R.
Hmmmm...... Maybe I should stay home and watch him fly over my house
