I work for UA, and there's a color copy of a new color scheme floating around the office. It looks very sharp and professionally-done. Does anyone know if UA has announced a new color scheme for our aircraft? It seems improbable, given our current financial situation, so it could be a "fantasy livery" from someone's website.
For those of you who are interested, it looks like a combination of the current LanChile and bmi color schemes.

For the sake of the airline, pax and crews and all employees, it has to be hoped this is someone's fantasy.
After the troubles UA has had over the last few years, its current parlous financial state and the public perception of an airline with problems, the last thing it needs is to have criticism heaped on it for wasting cash, not for painting aircraft - that has to be done in turn anyway - but for the designer's (fat) fee and the cost of redesigning the myriad applications of new colours on everthing from tickets to ads, check ins to freight igloo logos.

I really, really, really, like the new color scheme, it is very modern and classy. Personally I think United's planes are a little to dark in the dark gray and blue. But I hope they aren't thinking about doing it now with their current financial situation
