What Would This Plane Be?

I went to an air show this w/e and saw the Blue Angels. There were several standing displays on the tarmac. There was one I've never seen before. It was a very small plane, but instead of having a propeller on the nose, it was on the top! And, the thing that it sat on was bolted in, so it was part of the plane and the prop was on the back of the stand thingy! What would this be? I took photos, but don't have them developed yet.

Thanks,

Becky

That sure looks like it! I'd seen one before! Thanks. What's the deal with the set-up?

I mean, I'd never seen one before. That is very similar to the one I saw.

It's an amphibious plane, so the prop needs to sit way up to prevent water from entering the engine intake.
