I know that NAL is currently in Chapter 11, but they keep adding more cities. They are also holding Flight Attendant interviews. Which leads me to believe that they must be getting financially back on track. Also how is their inflight service? I've heard that they recieved good remarks on their service. Also, what do their FA uniforms look like?

National Airlines is doing pretty good IMO. They have announced service to SEA, IAD, PBI (seasonal) and they will resume service to DCA soon. I think they are a long way from getting financially back on track. They have applied for a bailout loan from the US government. That application is still pending They currently have 18 757s (according to Bill Harms site) and they will be acquiring new aircraft. The inflight service on National is typical to Southwest, except on most National planes, there is some IFE. I flew LAS-ORD roundtrip in June and on one segment, there was no IFE and on the return segment there was so I guess you have to be lucky sometimes. The seating is very similar to AA MRTC. They are holding a bunch of interviews. In the National In-Flight magazine, they said they will be hiring close to 400 people for the Washington DC service. If you really want more information, I highly recommend the National website http://www.nationalairlines.com (They don't update regularly though, unfortunately) and also the Las Vegas Sun newspaper http://www.lasvegassun.com (They usually have an article on National at least once a week). Hopefully, they will make it through this tuff time and survive. While National is a small airline, they are vital to the Las Vegas economy. All the National flights I have been on (only 4), have all been full. But, my ticket was so cheap for the trip to ORD, (178 RT!!!!), it's hard to believe they are making any money, LOL  Laugh out loud. I'm sorry, I can't remember the FA's uniforms (it's too late over here, I gotta be in bed!). I'll ask my bro tomorrow. Talk to you later!

their FAs look like casino workers.

Pay is below that of most charters.

No, they aren't making money yet... not sure if they ever will, with Mikey Conway and the ex HP folks at the top........

Washington Dulles (2 Roundtrips) begins on 8/1/02
Reno (4 Rountrips) and Reagan Washington National (1 Roundtrip) service begins on 10/3/02
West Palm Beach (1 roundtrip) seasonal service effective 11/21/02 through 4/28/03

Well they managed to stay around for this long, so IN MY OPINION, I THINK THEY ARE DOING PRETTY WELL. I know they are in Chap. 11 but they still are adding cities and hiring new people.

A Chapter 11 reorgantization is a process from which a company can emerge stronger and with better finances.

CO has gone the Chapter 11 route and came out OK......HP has done it too. As stated, National is still in the air and intends to stay there, with plans for additonal cities.......that is pretty good, certainly better than Midway is doing.

Hey National_757,

Thanks for the response, I always check out NAL's website every week, but they don't update as much, as you said. I figured they were probably doing pretty well myself, if they are adding these new routes as well as bringing more people on the payroll. Thanks again. You should get a job their if you like them so much.  Smile

well appearances are fooling. Their yields have dropped dramatically as the charter airlines increase business at McCarran. National's passenger loads have been steady, while other airlines (Southwest, United, Alaska) are seeing large increases.

An airline may be hiring, but that doesn't mean they are healthy. Vanguard had to hire about 500 more employees over the past year, and they're still struggling, albeit doing BETTER, still in the "ER" per se. National seems to be stuck in the "ICU".

In regards to other airlines in Chapter 11, Continental also has ASSETS. National, like TWA, has virtually NOTHING. Bankruptcy allows you to play catch-up on bills, but you this equation still has to be met:

Sales - Expenses = Money to pay off past bills

Problem is, Expenses are larger than sales!! :P;

Good luck National, and good luck getting Conway outta there....

Hey National_757

I never checked your profile I didn't know you were so young. I also saw that you are a co-owner of a company. What is CGI? I was actually thinking of going on a little weekend trip to Vegas. I was going to non-rev on US Airways and then see about using and ID-90 on National back to PHL, just to see what they were like. Well, take care. I have actually been searching A.net for the past 3 years, I just now finally signed up to the forum.

Well CGI is basically a programming language that makes all kinds of things work from this message board to guestbooks. My brother is the main guy that does all the programming. We've both made quite a bit of money over the summer.

Vegas is great for a weekend getaway. It's really hot up around here though. Now would be a great time to get out here because alot of strip hotels have huge discounts. See ya later
