After cancelling the 728 order Lufthansa is evaluating a replacement order.
Under evaluation are the big Embraers, the big Bombardiers the A318 and as little surprise the 717 according to Flight International. All despite the 717 would make a logical choice. IMO a 717 deal would be a big surprise and is not very likely.
What do you think? Who will win?

i´d say they´re going for the Embraers. although CLH has a large CR1 fleet and will most probably get even more CR7s since they´re pretty happy with that aircraft (except for some bugs every new model has), they´re not to fond of the CR9 due to its tube-like interior.
given that LH had an order of 60+60 frames for the Do 728s, i´d be pretty sure that almost every manufacturer is fighting to win the new order and i wouldn´t be too surprised if our brazilian friends have already visited FRA.
that LH is looking into the A318 might not be surprising at all, but i highly doubt they consider it as an alternative for the Do728s. in addition, this aircraft, as well as the 717, offer more capacity (around 100pax) which would be too much. there is a scople clause which says that every LH aircraft with more than 70 seats has to be operated by LH mainline crew.
when CLH got their Avros there was an exeption made but it the scope clause still stands.
it´s obvious that LH would like CLH to operate more and bigger aircraft since they operate cheaper so i could imagine LH being possibly interested in the 717.
please note, this is speaking hypothetically. it would make no sense to ease up the scope clause and have CLH operate the A318 and LH mainline the other A320family aircraft. however, although it´s a new type to the fleet, the 717 would seem more logical in this case, imho.
it seems to be more profitable on the usual CLH routes (short sectors) and it fits better into CLH, fleet- and network-wise, although it would be much bigger than any of their current aircraft.
i´m not saying that CLH/LH will go for the 717 (although it would look nice in the colors!!!), i´m just trying to provide some thoughts on the FI article.
If only pure sweetness was offered, why's this bitter taste left in my mouth.

Indeed the B717 would be an interesting choice as DO728 replacement.
But I hardly doubt that CLH will choose the B717 the EMB is more likely!
CLH wont operate a 100seater that would make no sense compared to the A318 operated by LH Classic.
But maybe when i pray every night for the B717 in the CLH fleet we' ll see her flying in LH colours
Imagine I could fly a B717 in 3 or 4 years when the RJ85 are gone!
WHAT A DREAM!
