Looks like its for real this time. I cant find any F28 flights in the sked after Sept 7th. Not that they're my favorite plane, but they're a nice looking bird.
Not sure how many are still flying but tomorrow (July 31st) is the last day for C-GTIZ which I believe is that last F28 in the Proud Wings livery.

I noticed that too. The only things I could find after Sept 7 were a couple of weekend flights.

But on Sept 8 YKA is suppose to be getting weekday Bae 146 jet service to YVR. This should make a.net member YKA estatic, although I haven't seen him post on the board lately.  Confused

Kelowna will be getting a daily 146 from YVR too. Will be ALOT easier on the ears!  Smile

BTW, I think YKA moved to Poland if I'm not mistaken.

There used to be two remaining Proud Wings Fokkers, but recently one had it's name and logo cover along with 9 others being scapped at YYC.

Yeah, I hope the 9 are still around and if possible, expand the line to like 20.  Smile

If the weather is good, I will be sure to be at YYC spotting and taking pictures on that day! Oh ya Mark. Of you are going to go spot let me know, because there is something interesting coming in the afternoon..  Smile

Speak up Bo. I gotta be at work at 5 tomorrow, but the weather is looking like shit. The fokkers are still here, they have all been partially repainted to cover the names and logos. They are being used as scraps. Check out my latest two shots at http://www.planepictures.net and search Mark McWhirter.

Very sad to see the "DC-9-15" of Fokker leaving, she was a sweet looking bird.

I really hope the morning and the afternoon will improve.

2pm: Air Atlanta Icelandic 747-200 Subbing for RAF L-1011
4pm: American Trans-Air L-1011 from Grand Rapids.
Also Martinair comes.

I'll be there regardless for sure, cant say no to two rarities!

I was at YYZ about 10 days ago, and I saw 2 F28's still there. They were supposed to stop operating them out of Toronto a while ago, and I was just wondering what routes they are still flying and how much longer they'll be at YYZ for?

I saw those 2 F28s at YYZ too. They aren't scheduled on any routes. They are probably still being used in a backup role until their retirement, sorta like the DC-9s did for a bit.

Here's some of the F-28's now. Not too bad for my first two scans with my new scanner.

Tomorrow I'll work on uploading more shots. I still Have 4 rolls of film for the G8 summit to scan aswell as a great roll of Fokkers, and some of my older material.

Hey Bo, I was out there today in the pouring rain. I wanted to see Zip but never did, i missed Air North by a minute, and left right before ATA because of work. The RAF charter was an Air Atlanta Icelandic wearing all white.

The 2 F28s in YYZ are there in a back up role. Currently, many of the front end crews from ex CRAL are training on the CRJ, but training is behind sched. Not all of the delivered CRJS are flying due to this shortcoming in pilots, so they use the F28s to fill. Jazz is also doing some flying on demand for AC, so that is the other reason.

Well, I guess C-GTIZ will be the last F28 I'll be on. While I didn't fly on the F28's until late in their lifetime, I kinda enjoyed riding in one. AC's schedule is certainly interesting now, with no direct replacement for the F28's, so my YXX-YYC shuttles will have to be 732's from now on. That will make all major flights operated into YXX 732's with a 73G only once a week.

I'll miss the noisy little buggers!

I remember the first time I saw one landing up close- I was on the pathway along Barlow, on the little hill on the approach to 28 (I just realized how appropriate I saw an f28 on runway 28!). Saw it coming in the distance, and when it passed over, I'll never forget how suprised I was at the noise it made! Worse that the 737s and a320s!

Anyway, they were a good little bird, but they served Air Canada and Canadian well.

Someday, we'll look back at this, laugh nervously, and then change the subject.

I saw the only remaining Proud Wings landing in YYC yesterday. the other F-28 has had it's name and logo sadly painted over. it disapeared though, and was replaced by another F-28 this one solid white.
