Hi all,

I've seen pics of B747 Classics ferrying a fifth, spare engine, just wondering if the B747-400 also has this capability.

Is the 5th pod option available for all engine types?
I seem to recall that if the earlier models of RR were to be ferried, certain sections of the engine had to be removed first. Correct?

there was a topic on five engined 747s a few days ago, and included was a pic showing a -400 doing this. So the answer to part one of your question is a "yes".

The pic. from a few days ago was from a South African 747-200 carrying the 5th pod. The question still remains about the 747-400.

Good Luck

The Boeing747-400 can ferry a 5th pod. I've seen it numerous times especially with Qantas.
