This is great news but surely if the flights are starting in 2 weeks time you should be able to book flights, or there would have been some advertisement.
Hope its true, another intercontinental from GLA

Also: scotland is a very popular destination for japanese tourists. If we were to have a runway extension then im sure a flight to japan would be on the cards. At the moment only prestwick has enough runway capacity for a non-stop japan flight..

Well time for me to interject now, there has not been any confirmation as yet of PIA, hopefully we will be hearing something soon.
EDI actually is busier than glasgow movement wise which is the source of many jokes as my missus is an air traffic controller at edinburgh and I handle business jets at glasgow, but glasgow is busier passenger movement wise due the fact glasgow gets daily 767-4, 767-3, 767-2 and regular charter A330, DC10, 767's and 757, but come winter edi will surpass glasgow on pax and movement figures (unfortunately)!!!!
But at the end of the day I just want to see all scottish airports do well to give us all a bit of choice up here, we have Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick all within touching distance in the central belt now I want to see all the airports prosper because I dont believe we should have to cross the border to go to newcastle or manchester just to get a cheap flight.

I too have heard the rumour of PIA to go to GLA again. But no official word. They are considering including Jakarta, several other routes that PIA had with a lot of passengers. I too hope that they start soon. As far as the war between GIA,EDI is concerned, I absoulutely didn't knew before that there was even room for a debate for any other airport near by. Airlines sometimes work differentl from what we amatures think. They may choose GIA only because they have been there and have been dealing there which doing again they may feel better. As for me, obviously you go for the one that appears more familiar so I don't know why but I think GIA may be it. On the other hand I will absolutely not be surprised to see PIA going to EDI in the end.
