Hello everyone,
I just heard that at September 11th several flights from BA, LH, AA, any many more are cancelled in cause of fear from new terrorist attack at this special day. What do you think, have the terrorists already won...??? Or why did they cancelled those flights?
I've also booked a flight at September 11 HAM-LHR-EWR, but BA said they this flight is not cancelled yet...
Regards
Tobi

The reason that they cancelled those flights was because the flights would be empty, no one riding on the flight. People's fears of what happened that awful day are still in their memories and they decided not to fly that day. It didn't mean that the terrorist won because they are still doing service and still having flights that day.

Tobi-
In a way, you're right. Regardless of their reasons, many people have deliberately chosen not to fly on 9/11. I think this is unfortunate, but understandable.
Like you, I will flying internationally on Sept. 11th and as of now, my flights are still scheduled. My intentions are personal and clear...that I will not allow the events of last year to alter my life. I suspect that all of us on this board feel the same way.
I also believe there is no better way to honor those who perished that horrible day last year than to get on a commercial flight without fear or concern that I'll arrive safely at my destination.

While I won't be flying on 9/11/02 I am proud to say I will be on vacation 9/11/02 and flying there and back 9/8/02 and 9/15/02.

Too many idiots are going to be hiding under their beds on Sept. 11th. Not flying, not going out in public, not going to work, etc. means the terrorists have won.

I can't imagine the circumstances that could keep me on the ground on 9.11.02. Let's roll! Either travel on passes or buy a cheap ticket somewhere.

Just bought my ticket from TOL to PHX on TZ (ATA) through Chicago-MDW for $225.00RT on 11SEP02. That's 6.8 cents per mile for two segments on a brand new 757-300 and two on a SAAB 340B! This is a great country we live in!

The word I've gotten is that airlines are cancelling flights all that week because of low ticket sales, but not because people are afraid to fly, but because of the enormous magnitude of the day (it's going to be a tough day. Almost all the networks are going to run commercial-free here in the US, mainly because no advertisers want to be seen as "cashing in" on the tragedy. In many ways, this 11/9 will be much like the last, with less shock, but still very emotional), people want to stay home and be with family.
