========

13:25 AE 821 Kaohsiung Mandarin Airlines Arr. gate 13:23

This is the first flight into Hong Kong and will operate 6 times per week. What I can't understand is why CI are allowed to add new flights after being banned from doing so after CI611 went down. (AE is 100% owned by CI)

I guess that's the whole point why Mandarin will add flights and not CI. AE can probably add flights with the new bilateral but CI is still prohibited to add flights due to safety concerns. Just a thought. The777Man

Need a Boeing 777 Firing Order....Further to fly....CI, MU, LX and LH 777s

Correction:

Mandarin is flying KHH-HKG daily. Effective August 24, 2nd daily flight will be added on Friday.

UNI Air was suppose to be flying, however, due to strong opposition from China and Hong Kong Government, UNI got booted out and Mandarin wins.

Are they flying the MD-11s or the B738s to Hong Kong?

Anyways it's not their first time flying to Hong Kong, however it's still good to have another airline coming into Hong Kong again.

Best Regards

Must be B738s, the last MD11 of CI/AE was retired.

AE never owned any MD-11's such. They are just routes that CI could not fly so they used the AE colours. Just like the 747SP's and the 744.

I really pity the CAL-group. They seem to have so much confusion going on within the airline...

CAL flies to Europe but has the AE abbrvs. The MD11 that crashed in HKG was in AE colours but carried the CI abbrv. It was decided that AE would be a domestic carrier sometime back and now it it expanding to Hongkong? AE oprated to Australia and Canada but now that AE has no more 744s, who is operating those routes? CAL? If so, do they carry the AE abbrv?

How come problems like these are not laced on EVA?

Welcome to my starry one world alliance, a team in the sky!

The role of China Airlines was very sensitive, so they used Mandarin's AE code and colour on some flights.

Right now, CI use it's own code for all flights previously operated by Mandarin. Except Frankfurt airport still shows AE instead of CI.

Mandarin now flies domestic route, and Asian resort destinations. All of their international flights including Hong Kong are 738.

As for EVA, they have no problem because they're private.
