After almost no advertisements in the start-up period, it seems that Belgian VG Airlines has started a real campaign: ads in newspapers, on the radio and wallposters...

Anybody some news how they are doing?

About the advertisements:

While driving to IKEA in Zaventem, I noticed various big advertisements of VG Airlines at the side of the road.

The ad features a colourful US flag as background, with the sober message "VG Airlines to JFK, BOS and LAX" as well as the number of their call center.

Personally I had a good impression about these road ads, so I'm looking forward to hear their radio ads.

I have nothing seen yet about their promotion campaign.

The fact that they were not going to do this in the beginning, and that they do it now, maybe this proves that this is a last attempt to sell some tickets on their flights.

I heard (but it is old news, just again confirmed) that SNBA-SLR don't talk (anymore) with VG Airlines.

Regards,
Frederic

Personally I find those ads quite ugly and insignificant.

It doesn't give any motivation to the pax to fly with them. It seems Van Gaever hasn't the meaning to be as arrogant in his advertisment as he is in the real life...

Anyway with such an insignificant name... it would take a lot of effort to a marketing manager to promote the company... !!!!

It's strange that they don't publish their website adress on this road ad's. And i don't think that the travelagents will be happy with this direct selling initiative of VG.

Now you mention it, I saw one, I really did. I just can't remember where and when. All I know is that I think it featured a large American flag, right?

Well, as long as it helps them to get some pax flying them.

Here in the states, VG bought a few ads in the New York times.
The ads were discussing the new "winter" fares.

That is all I have seen so far.

Also, I heard VG will add 2-3 new destinations in the winter, does anyone know anything more about this ?

Later ...

AirDD, MIA is apparently set to be the fourth US destination. They are going to recduce BOS-BRU frequency to add some MIA flights from what I have heard. They have also been looking at MCO.

It would be great that VG diversifies its activities & network.

Why no Middle East route ?? I'm sure a Antwerp based airline would be able to make a lot of money on a BRU-TLV route e.g !!

Why not Dubai ??? Or even Tokyo or HKG !!

VG should focus on markets where it would get some kind of exclusivity.

Just my opinion.

Yes, some routes are coming soon.

Facts:
* 4th airbus 330-300
* Middle East, well let say at least one, maybe two. Dubai will be not the first.
* What about a Pacific flight from LAX.

They are working very hard, but no confirmation yet as from VG Airlines.
They are doing fine with the pax, especially the flights from LAX are quite full.

If I have some more news I will let you know.

Now that I think of it: the fact I can only very vaguely remember the ad says enough, right? Or should I blame my lower-than-average memory capacity for this one?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I haven't seen or heard the ads yet, but maybe it is a good sign that VG has the money to advertise. Does anybody know how they are doing lately?

Best regards,

Tom

Whether the ads of VG Airlines have been well-designed or not, it is definitely reassuring for the public to see those ads and to know that the company is still doing business.

According to the schedule, the flight of VG Airlines to JFK takes 35 minutes longer than Delta's flight to JFK. Is this difference in time (partially) due to the different aircraft type & average cruising speed? Or is it due to that ETOPS issue, forcing VG Airlines to take longer routes over the Atlantic. When is VG Airlines expected to receive this ETOPS qualification? Is this a matter of months or years?

Does VG Airlines accept bookings between BRU and EVN? The VG website does not indicate any EVN-fares and the online booking engine does not even allow you to book from LAX to EVN!

I think it is mostly due to the difference in ETOPS qualifications. Or maybe they just prefer different tracks? There are so many factors that can have a role in the ETE.
