I found it interesting that the San Francisco Chronicle's cover story this morning was United and its "shaky future". I feel like the article painted an unnecessarily grim picture of the situation for UAL. United is not going anywhere-even if it comes to bankruptcy-which I don't think it will...Anyway, check out the article:


On a somewhat related not (I don't want to start a new thread just for this)
Sunday's SF Chronicle had a story about the new people moves out at SFO and how during a test run 2 Sunday's ago there was a large collision that totaled 2 of the units...Does anybody know of similar problems ever experienced by these people movers. I think that I recall when DEN was still coming online that had some issues with theirs'. Thanks.

Not UAL not AMR not DAL not NWA not even darling CAL

SWA was NK was B6 was

People are not paying 4000 to fly roundtrip coast to coast anymore.

They are not paying 800 heck they are looking for the 158-198 coast to coast. You can not make money when your cost structure is in the 500 range per roundtrip...

The international is loosing money as well...

Nuff said.. The will change drastically or perish quickly ala Pan Am TWA and Eastern

Anyone who believes otherwise probably invested in US Air and UAL a couple years or so ago when a merger was announced....

While I think the business model has changed, it's hardly the death knell for full service carriers.
