I'm not sure if that was first time 747 in RFD. I have heard UAL DC10 have been landed a few times when ORD have bad weather. Today, it was crazy on and off heavy downpour raining all late afternoon and evening.

I did some back-to-school shopping at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, which is very near O'Hare Airport. The weather was down and out horrid, pouring rain, black clouds, lightning, thunder. No doubt ORD was pretty messed up.
