I thought that Swissair used the MD-11 on the Zurich - JFK run. I am taking this flight in July and checked the Swissair website which shows the flight being done by an A330. In fact all the JFK-Zurich flights seem to be A330's that I could find. Does anyone know if Swissair is going to stop using the MD-11 on the JFK route in the next few months? Is it possible the site is just wrong?

I saw a SR A330-200 at JFK a week ago Friday so if this is their only scheduled SR flight into JFK then it would be fair to say that's the replacement for the MD-11. They could use the -11 if traffic spikes during the summer months as can very well happen.

This summer, the schedule increases on the JFK-ZRH route from 2xMD11 to 3xA330-200. The Geneva flight switches to an A330 as well. All flights will operate out of the brand new international terminal, which I hear is fabulous.

We'll be able to see 4 swiss Airbii in the space of a few hours!

FlyAA757

That new terminal would surely be a welcome replacement to their current terminal (the ex PAA Worldport). Ever try to pick someone up from there and walk across the street in front to the parking garage?

"Cram thru arrival lounge, receive arriving passenger (mother in law) Deposit 200 lounds of baggage on "SmarteCarte" Up one elevator, thru a security checkpoint, (re-security check 200 lbs baggage!) Go down a hallway, go down an angled hallway with 200 lbs of baggage (Terminal Slalom time baby!..whew) Skid into original terminal ( Am I in an old McDonalds?..the glass and metal..ahh!.."flashbacks of the 70s!" (LOL!), cram into tiny elevator, go down tiny elevator (go back up the tiny elevator), burst onto the front entranceway, Stand and wait for slow large elevator, deposit on street level, dodge cars and taxis flying thru red lights. Into parking garage. Car. Van Wyck-rage-a-thon. 95. GW. Delaware Water Gap. Home.

Did that a month ago. And indeed I'll take AA's current old terminal over what I experienced earlier -any day-. (Grin!)

Hi,

There does not seem to be a fixed policy at the moment on which JFK flight gets an MD11 and which an A330. From the end of March (Summer timetable), there will be indeed 3 daily ZRH-JFK flights, but my information is that most days one of these flights will be an MD11 - mostly SR100, the 1230 ex ZRH arriving JFK 1500. Of course this could easily change.

From summer time-table on Swissair has 3 flights from ZRH to JFK, one GVA to JFK and one flight ZRH to EWR (Newark) per day. I think most of them are are run by A-330-200, but SR 100 (ZRH-JFK) will be mostly on MD-11.

Swissair operates 2x daily to newark and 2x daily to jfk. All flights to newark are operated by A 332 and the flights to Kennedy are operated by md11s and 332s. The 332s are used to new york because they are equipped with PTVs in all classes. The md11s only have DVD players.

Avion is not right:
Swissair operates at the moment:
Twice daily ZRH-JFK, once GVA-JFK and once ZRH-EWR (Newark), once BSL-EWR.
With begin of the summer time-table the BSL flight will be taken to ZRH. Then there will be 4 fligths daily ZRH-N.Y. and one from GVA. Most of them are operated by A-330, perhaps one by MD-11. The MD-11 will soon have new PTV's, the old one had to be taken out because of the crash of SR 111.
