Why does Boeing have seating configurations for a 2-4-2 767? I know charters use them, but wouldn't Boeing and/or the airline want to keep the seat width and pitch hidden?

Are you saying 'why do Boeing publish cabin widths?' Or are you saying 'the seating configuration of an aircraft should be hidden'. If it's the latter, it ain't a secret once people sit in the seats...
