"The Tango fleet will be reduced to 11 aircraft from 20 and seven cities will be dropped from its schedule, including Victoria, Kelowna, Abbotsford, Windsor, Charlottetown, Deer Lake and Gander, said Laura Cooke, a spokeswoman for the airline.

But while Air Canada said the cuts reflect a drop in demand from the peak summer season, one analyst suggested they may also indicate Tango is hurting the mainline carrier and its regional arm, Jazz."

Enjoy, and where do you think they will expand to next year?

Well of course Air Canada is going to say it's a decrease in summer traffic. It was hurting the mainline carrier, and with competition to Jazz on some routes. A great thing to do when you are trying to sell of Jazz. Also the Christmas season would be big business for Tango, by getting passengers who normally don't fly to take to the skies. Most of the flights they cut are typical summer routes though.

Could also be related to the fact that the current Tango B732's are the ones ZIP will be using.

I thought that they would only be expanding and were very, very successful. I am pretty sure that they are not sharing planes with Zip but I could be wrong.

That would explain why I saw a ZIP 732 operate a Tango flight into YQG a while ago.  Smile http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/892277/6/

Zip isn't running yet, although they have at least the one 737 painted in that awful pink livery.

That wouldn't make any sense for them to be sharing planes?

The Christmas season has been mentioned, and according to Tango's website they were supposed to re-instate the YQG routes in December (after quitting Sep 7), which would make sense since they probably don't depend much on business traffic. So, is that still on, or are they definitely not expanding back until at least the next summer season?

Some people have very short memories...especially in the media. However, the media needs material in order to deliver your eyeballs to advertisers. Sometimes this material is not news.

Tango is doing exactly what it said it would do. This is not news.

Tango is being cut due to seasonality, but a big part of it is it takes too much traffic away from mainline and Jazz, and especially the YYZ hub.

There was an Air Canada TANGO plane parked at E6 this evening (720PM local time). It was a 732. Any clues?
