LPL has been given planning permission by Liverpool City Council to expand the new terminal to 5 million pax per year; they expect 3 million passengers this year and forecast 4.5 million by 2006. The cost will be £26 million.

However, the locals are set to protest about an increase in the number of flights, the environmentalists about fuel pollution and Speke Hall owner's The National Trust aren't too happy either.
