American Airlines will introduce new seasonal double-daily service between Miami and London's Heathrow service effective 23Oct02.

AA 112 MIA 2325-1320 LHR 772
AA 113 LHR 1520-2035 MIA 772

Service operates through 29Mar03. It is using the slot that is currently used by AA66/67 (ORD-LHR), which will become a seasonal summer service. This will bring up the total daily flights between Miami and London to five dailies. Two British Airways 747-400s to Heathrow, two American Airlines 777-200s to Heathrow, and one Virgin Atlantic 747-400 to Gatwick.

Correction: The late service will run with a 763, not a 772. All else the same though.

Hopefully this will add a little much needed cash into AA's coffers.

Great to hear as from AA getting by the double-daily nonstop from MIA-LHR flight and hopefully that if they are doing very well into MIA hubs and that is very busiest into MIA airport. Don't you guys know about this one before. I did went to MIA airport as last 2 months ago to look it around there as sometimes. Well, hope this is your good thing to do.

This means that Oneworld has the MIA-LHR route network totally sewn up. Good for them. Now lets see if any other carrier wishes to take them on. Good on you BA/AA.

Although things could have changed, Miami is one of the routes BMI wants to launch first from LHR, when/if they can get LHR-USA rights. Until then, though, BA/AA and have the very, very lucrative Miami-Heathrow market to themselves. Virgin is very satisfied with it's Gatwick services, so no signs of it moving over to LHR like EWR and BOS did recently, since leisure passnegers tend to perfer less hectic Gatwick, and that is what Virgin caters to on their MIA flights.

Under the current Bermuda II, no other carrier CAN take them on. MIA is not a designated US 2-airline gateway meaning that only AA can serve MIA-LHR on the US side for now. I don't think the MIA-LHR traffic figures have reached the appropriate threshold for the second US carrier to be allowed in yet.

Fortunatley, those regulations will likely not be around for long it seems, though you are absolutely correct. United/bmi will gladly enter this market once they can. MIA is now 6th largest US-London market, after New York City, Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and just ahead of San Francisco, and has been fortunate in that it has not seen traffic fall or schedules reduced in the past year.

So under the current Bermuda II agreement this means that BA/AA have this market to themselves and so does this explain why AA has added a second daily service due to speculation that Bermuda II is about to change. This would explain the 2nd service and that means that initially BA/AA have this market completely tied up. Good for them as i am sure that this exists on many Star routes already. Someone please correct me if i am wrong? If Bermuda II is due to change then i can see many UA/AA/VS/BA routes flooded with operations due to the impending expansion from other US/UK airlines!!!!! Am i being too sinical?

Yeah, that is someday as for new routes nonstop from FLL-LGW as for the passengers want go fly to LGW flight. I think. Do you even that if they are made of the plans will be flying nonstop as for London-Gatwick. I do know about as for before by Laker Airways were nonstop from FLL-LGW or LHR flight by DC-10. I remember that is one and if I am correct this one or wrong one. Thanks!!
