Acoording to Dutch newspaper 'De Telegraaf' Dutch charter airliner Dutchbird will replace it's 3 B757 aircraft with 4 A320 aircraft. The first two A320s will arrive before the end of the year, the other two before the summer of 2003. According to the article Dutchbird will offer more legroom then then other carriers on the A320, by using two rows of seat less then the standard configuration.The 3 B757s will be returned to their owner, German carrier Condor. By the way, I think Dutchbird has a really beautiful colorscheme...

I've heard that they will also keep the 752's flying.

I hope you are right, but the article in the newspaper says they will be returned to Condor. I do love these B757 in Dutchbird colorscheme! It would be a shame to see them leaving the fleet.

Anyone any idea what Condor will do with them when they get 'em back?
I thought Condor was switching its 757 fleet to RR only, at least thats what i read in Airliner World when Dutchbird got its first 757 from Condor with PW engines.

Anyone know?

Thanks DutchDeltaDude, did that allready by email.

I will give them a call tomorrow! If you would happen to have a better adress than their PO box written on their site maybe you could send it fa232382@skynet.be.

I would very much appreciate it!

Thanks a lot

Wouldn't the A321 be a good 757 replacement?

Both A320 and A321 are signifiantly smaller than the 757.

I do not know the charter config of a B757 but the A321 can take up to 220 âx if necessary!!! I do no think that is that much less than a B757!

Also maybe it does not need to be a big airplane, maybe they have enough with the 180 pax of an A320....

Anyway i have checked it and the aircraft will be arriving.....

757-200 all charter layout = 239 seats max
757-300 all charter layout = 279 seats max
A321 = 220 as you say
A320 = 180 seats max

The 757's will still be in the fleet of DBR.

The only reason for DBR to take 320's is the problem of the touroperators. the 320 is smaller and is much quicker booked with passengers. The other reason are the small Greek islands where the 757 seems to have a little more trouble than the 320.

Are the 320 leased from Condor by the way or are they directly from Airbus

Regards,

Gregor
