Ok, I've been driving east on Sunrise Hwy on Long Island, and as I near ISP, I always see what looks like the silouhette of a 737 (but could be a 757,767,777 or similar airbus) turning north as if to ISP.

However, I have been unable to link it as a SWA or DL flight into ISP at that time.

IS it possible that this plane is one of those departing on of the 13's in JFK and looping around by ISP???

Or can fellow LI Anetters confirm this twin underwing engine plane?

Thanks.

...about the altitude.

As you probably have noticed flights east out of JFK mostly? all? stay offshore, and flights north and west to GREKI and GAYLE rarely if ever come that far east. As I recall JFK arrivals from the east are still over the Atlantic at that point, right? So I'm guessing JFK isn't involved.

The only 737 that Delta has at this time is their FLL flight. 2552 and 2553 - one is scheduled in at 1445(?) and the other is due out at 1530. The other planes they have right now are CRJ's from Comair and ASA.

Greetings:

How high is it when you see it and what part of Sunrise Hwy are you on? It has to be a plane going in or out of JFK WN and DL don't have any flights out of ISP around that time, and there's no private 737's based at ISP.

Tom

AH HA! I should have reviewed the Providence inbounds. That sounds right.

I usually catch it as I am passing Dowling and the Connetquot river.

Thanks guys, You ALL ROCK!

I live 40 miles east of JFK (just north of ISP less than 5 minutes) and I can see JFK arrivals from my yard all the time.

Yup, I forgot the arrival goes to CCC and then down to ROBER, which means they pass 6-7 nm SE of ISP at 10000 ft or so. Or does it seem they're being vectored closer to you?

In any case his mystery plane presumably wasn't one of those arrivals, right?

Greetings:

I love when the flights come in over the river. Just as there passing over my house they lower their gear  Love Look straight up and you can look right into the wheel wells. If there lower enough over the river at night their landing lights shine right into the homes on the river.
