CX will start flying the A340-600 HKG-LAX 1 Dec initially 3 times per week and increasing to daily on 1 Jan replacing one of the 744 flights. The 346 will seat 288 ( 8F/60J/220Y) vs 383 on the 744 ( but carry twice the amount of cargo as the 744).
Also noticed that the flying times for the 744 and 346 are the same whereas the 343 would always be scheduled for 45-50 minutes longer than a 744 on the same route. Guess the 346 is no longer a slower aircraft than the 744.

The 346 will be used HKG-TPE and HKG-MNL as CX always use their long haul aircraft on short regional routes during the day.
With the 28Mar schedule, the 346 drops off the LAX route which goes back to 2 744's and I don't know where the 346's ( 3 by March) will be flying then.
Hmmm. Maybe a new yet to be announced route or HKG-YYZ.

Any news on where the 346's willl fly from 28 Mar forward when they are taken off the LAX route? Only plausible theories I've heard are a new route HKG-ORD and/or HKG-YYZ non-stop.
Looks like Virgin will be the first 346 ( other than the demo flight a few months back) in HKG when they start HKG-LHR on 16Oct beating CX by 6 weeks and then SA a month later with their 346 from HKG-JNB on 2 Jan. A big improvement for SA on the 742 they've been using.
