I´m flying from Frankfurt to Miami on Monday and I just wanted to ask those of you guys who have any experiences with that airport a few questions:
- I´ll be arrving at around 2pm. How are the lines at the customs at this time? Will I have to wait rather long or aren´t there those crowds like at JFK?
- How do I get to the car rental stations (namely Alamo). Is there a bus picking me up like at SFO?
- Is there an observation deck or something similar?
- When I´m going back two weeks later, I´ll probably be quite hungry. Any suggestions where to go for having a good lunch?

Well, when you after clear as for Customs and then, you will walk over by the rent-a-car counter passed from the International Arrivals as Lobby as near of Baggage claims. And you will have a least as for 30 mins as for Customs/Immigration after arrive into the gate by the concourse F. It's probably will get a busy afternoon into MIA airport as from international arrivals from some of Europe like from LHR, CDG, MAD, MXP will be using into the concourse E by the American Airlines. Also, that is will be arrive around close of 3:00pm. as from Latin American, Caribbean, and etc. So if you like to know about anything have a comments this one. Thanks!!!

Are there many flights arriving from Latin America at about 2:00pm?
And are the passengers from these flights going through the same customs facilities as passengers arriving from Europe?

The last time I was there, Alamo Car Rental was via shuttle- don't know if this is the way it is now, because the last time I was there was in 1997.
I don't know about an observation deck, but I do remember going to the 94th Aero Squadron Resturant, which has (is it still there?) a nice view of one of the runways (9R/27L?). There's also an awesome airline-themed resturant near the airport (I think it's at a Days Inn) which has models, memorabilia & you actually sit in airplane seats when you eat- I'd try to stop there. I have no idea what it's called, though, so I can't help you there.

@9V-SPF:
I'll land at MIA at 15:25 on the American Airlines flight from London on Monday
Last time I've been in MIA I landed on Lauda Air flight from Munich. Customs took ca. 10 Minutes. That's it. But this flight arrives at 5pm.
We rented a car at Alamo last year. A bus that stops right before the arrivals took us to the station next to the airport...
Have fun at Miami...

If I remember correctly, at MIA most of the rental car places are via shuttle bus - I will be there in a couple of weeks but fortunately on a domestic US flight and Dollar's lot is a bus ride away !!

The traffic from latin america will be heavy and you will have to contend with it. There is only one customs hall so you will have to share. All of TACA's flights arrive around 2:15-3:00 PM so it will be close. Not many other airlines fly internationally around that time, but I'm not really sure, I usually fly AA from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and we get there around 5:45- 6:00 pm. Enjoy your flight, and I hope that the lines aren't to bad.

Yep,Alamo is a busride away. I was there in April and had a fabulous time! Make sure you visit the plane store near Eldorado Furniture, they are great! They're located near r/w 9R. Also try out the 94th Squadron restaurant, ask for a window seat and you can listen to "tower" freqeuncy on headphones. Have fun in MIA,my 2nd fave city!

Thanks...
You asked for an observation deck?! Hmm... not really.. but you can go on the top of the hotel (there is a swimming pool, too). There you have a view of the airport. But the view is not the best...
Have fun in Florida...
I thin weather is not so fine at the moment

As far as getting fed while in MIA, if you like sushi, go to Tokyo Bowl on 12290 Biscayne blvd. You can get all-u-can-eat for under $10USD. If your into snorkeling, I highly recommend the Keys Diver located in Key Largo(approx 50 miles from Miami depending where you're staying). You can go John Pennekamp State park which is underwater. There is a statute of Christ underwater that you could take pics of with an disposable underwater camera($7-10USD). I wish I was going with you but I'm planning for a trip in Dec to visit relatives in West Palm beach, Hollywood, and Ft Lauderdale so I'll be able to get another chance to go the park. Have fun!!
