Does anyone know when Qantas will begin to refit their 737s because I read in the Qantas annual report that interior work will be carried out on the 737 fleet this year. What does this interior work consist of, and will all QF 737s receive a cabin refitit?

And will the 762s receive a cabin upgrade considering they will be in the fleet until 2005.

Regards Ben.

Beno,

The 737 refit will start in the next couple of months. All will be re-fitted with slim-line seating and convertible business class seats. Slim-line seating will increase carrying capacity. I am not sure on the exact number of extra seats. Apparently a 737-300 will increase to approx 130 passengers from existing 105 (I think).

From what I understand the 767-200's will not be touched as they will be phased out by 6/05.

Regards

QFP

QANTASpower,

Thanks very much for your reply, I was just wondering what QF mean by slim-line seating, is it the type of seating found on the 763s or the brand new seats found on the 744s. Also how long will it take to complete, and what seating will the A330s have?

Thanks.

Beno,

The seating on the 763's and 744's is the same however the new 744's with the IFE have a different fabric finish. The 733's will have this sort of seat however I am not sure what fabric. I would say the same as the 763's to differentiate the 744's which operate on the international routes. The A330's will have the same slimline seating. I am not sure about the timeframe though.

The 767-200's are to be retired. If they can't find a buyer I guess they will be scrapped.
